Skills¶
Skills are reusable instruction packs that extend an agent with extra capabilities and know-how — packaged instructions, and optionally supporting files, scripts, and required credentials, that you attach to an agent. You manage them from the agent's Skills settings, where installed skills can be assigned to the agent, toggled on and off, and removed.
Finding and adding skills¶
- ClawHub registry — browse and search a public skills registry from the ClawHub tab, see each skill's description, changelog, and install counts, and preview it before installing. Install a skill system-wide, or use one-click install and add to the agent in a single step.
- Create custom — author your own skill directly on the platform, with its own name, description, instructions, and any required credentials.
- Derive a copy — start from an existing skill and create a custom copy you can edit and evolve independently.
Skills you didn't author show a read-only badge; your own skills are editable. Skills that belong to a built-in agent stay with that agent — they are not listed here to attach to an agent of your own.
Requirements and credentials¶
A skill can declare requirements it needs to run — for example required tools and environment variables or API keys. When you add such a skill you're prompted to fill these in; the values are encrypted and stored securely, and the agent uses them at runtime. If a skill's credentials need attention, the agent's Skills list surfaces Configure credentials or Update credentials.
Versions and testing¶
Skills are versioned. You can create a new version of a skill, and when a newer version of an installed skill exists, the agent shows New version available so you can choose which version that agent uses. Skills can also carry test cases — running Test exercises the skill against those cases using a temporary agent and an automated judge, and records pass/fail results per case.
Files a skill produces¶
When a skill run creates files — a generated document, an export, a rendered image — they come back with the reply to download, and they're also listed on the canvas of the conversation that asked for them, alongside everything else the agent made in that chat.
Connecting a skill to an external account¶
Some skills work against your account with an external provider. For these, instead of pasting keys you click Authorize and complete a sign-in popup; the platform stores the resulting connection (encrypted) and attaches it to the skill on that agent.
Availability
OAuth-based skill connections are currently shipped for a single provider (media generation). The mechanism is built to add more providers later, but today this specific flow is limited to that one skill.
