Create your first agent¶
The path from sign-up to a working, shareable agent takes a few minutes. You describe what you want, watch Donkit build it, try it, and publish.
1. Sign up¶
Register with email, Google, Apple, or Microsoft. See Accounts & workspaces for how personal and organization accounts differ.
Carried-over ideas
If you typed an idea into the prompt box on the Donkit website before signing up, that idea follows you into the Builder as your agent's first instruction — you'll land with your agent already being created.
2. Start on Home¶
You land on Home, with a switch above the message box:
- New chat talks to your main assistant — the fastest way to get something done without building anything.
- New agent is the one you want here.
3. Describe what you want¶
Switch to New agent and describe who you need — for example, "A nutritionist that reads a photo of my plate and estimates calories and macros". The example ideas under the box are there for inspiration; click one to edit it instead of starting from scratch. Prefer a running start? Pick a template from the gallery below.
4. Watch it build¶
The Builder writes the agent's instructions, switches on the tools it needs (web search, memory, file handling, and so on), and generates a live interface. The new agent appears in the rail right away, marked Creating agent until it's ready, and its interface takes shape in front of you.
5. Try it¶
When the build finishes you're on the agent itself: its live interface on one side, a private owner chat — with canvas — on the other. Use both — click through the interface the way your users will, and ask the agent things directly.
6. Refine¶
If something's off, click Edit agent and tell the Builder — "remember my dietary preferences", "add a weekly summary" — iterating in the same conversation. The same overlay's settings rail is where you fine-tune the system prompt, adjust tools, add knowledge by uploading documents, connect integrations, or add skills. Exit edit takes you back to the running agent.
7. Publish¶
When you're happy, open Publish in the rail to make the agent live and get a shareable link. See Publishing an agent for access controls and sharing options.
